NAPOLEON -- Azul Tequila restaurants in Napoleon and Defiance were raided by federal law enforcement agents earlier this week, authorities said.

Special agents with the Department of Homeland Security's immigration and customs enforcement division executed federal search warrants Tuesday morning at the restaurants as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to the agency's office in Detroit.

An agency spokesman refused to elaborate, citing a unfinished investigation.

The raid at 601 E. Riverview Ave. in Napoleon was conducted about 11 a.m., according to Napoleon police.

The raid at 1495 N. Clinton St. in Defiance happened between 10 a.m and 10:30 a.m., Defiance police said.
