MONROE — A Monroe man was killed Wednesday when a motorcycle he was driving collided with a sport utility vehicle on Vivian Road in Frenchtown Township, authorities said.

Mark Yount, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was wearing a helmet, deputies said.

He was driving north on Vivian, about a half-mile south of Nadeau Road, at 5:50 a.m. when an SUV driven by Garrett Lawson,17, also of Monroe, was headed south on Vivian. It went left of center and into the motorcycle’s path, deputies said.

The teen was treated at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, Trenton, Mich., a hospital spokesman said.
