A 15-year-old was arrested and charged with felonious assault after a 16-year-old was shot at a vacant lot north of the corner of Cherry and Bancroft streets at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, Toledo police Sgt. Bill Wauford said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious shoulder injuries. Though the injuries were significant, they were not life-threatening, Sergeant Wauford said.

The sergeant said the suspect could not be named initially because he was a juvenile and it was unsure if his mother had been told, but his name would be released by morning today.

The victim and suspect, both Toledo residents, had an ongoing feud for a couple of months which escalated to Saturday's shooting, police said. They did not know the direct cause of the feud or the shooting. No previous altercations between the two minors resulted in any arrests.

Witnesses were at the scene, but no one other than the alleged gunman will be charged, Sergeant Wauford said.
