Seven members of a Point Place family were displaced by fire at their 119th Street house Sunday.

The fire at 2918 119th was called in after an attempt to extinguish it failed, Toledo fire Battalion Chief Tom Kominski said. When firefighters arrived at 8:27 a.m., damage was considerable.

He estimated the damage to the 1½-story house at $40,000, with more than half the building burned and another quarter affected by smoke and water.

The fire was declared out at 10:45 a.m. The Red Cross was expected to provide shelter for the adults overnight, while four children were to stay with friends.

County auditor’s records say the home was built in 1950 and is owned by Joyce and Melodey Anteau.
