Waterville bicyclist struck by car

A Waterville bicyclist was injured Sunday when he was struck by a car while riding on Monclova Road east of Jerome Road in Monclova Township, authorities said.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said the accident, reported at 3:46 p.m., occurred when S. Daniel Cannode, 65, turned into the path of a car driven by Mary A. Fritz of Maumee. Mr. Cannode was riding in the designated bike lane when he was struck and thrown from his bike. Both were westbound on Monclova Road.

Troopers said Mr. Cannode was not wearing a helmet.

Mr. Cannode was flown to Toledo Hospital. Ms. Fritz was not injured, troopers said. He is in fair condition.
