Toledo police are trying to determine if a reported shooting was, in fact, a shooting.

A 16-year-old Toledoan reported that he was driving when he was grazed on his head at Spring Street and Stickney Avenue in North Toledo at 12:26 p.m. Thursday, but police said the injury did not appear to be from a shooting.

The teen, whose name was not released, took a turn onto Sherman Street too quickly, and crashed the car he was driving into the front of a brick building.

A witness said the teen stumbled out of the driver’s side and two women got out of the car and started to run.

The wounded teen staggered and then ran one block to a home in the 1400 block of Moore Street, which is where police responded.

The teen, who could not stand or walk on his own, was held up and nearly dragged by acquaintances to a waiting ambulance.

He suffered a bloody head injury and was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
