A Toledo man was stabbed in his abdomen and arm Tuesday night on the city's east side, police said.

Antonio Williams, 31, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment. A spokesman said the victim was still being treated there today, but had no update on his condition.

Police were called to the unit block of Birmingham Terrace at 12:56 a.m., for the cutting, which reportedly happened sometime after 10:40 p.m.

A man listed on a police report as a suspect told police he was “minding his own business” when the victim punched the suspect in the back of the head.

The suspect allegedly fell and “was defending himself” when he used a pocket knife to cut the victim, according to a report.

Police said they were not able to find the weapon and the victim was not cooperative.

The man listed as a suspect has not been charged.
