Sobriety checkpoint cites 6 drivers for OVI

Six motorists were cited for impaired driving Friday night at a sobriety checkpoint on the Anthony Wayne Trail in front of the Toledo Zoo. During the operation, run from 9 p.m. to midnight, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and Toledo Police questioned 628 drivers.

Sixteen of those were checked more closely for impairment, with six arrested for driving while impaired, a highway patrol news release sates.

Perimeter patrols also cited three more motorists for impaired driving. Agents from the Ohio Investigative Unit participated in the effort, checking nearby tavern liquor permits. During one of those inspections, agents arrested and charged an individual with drug trafficking. That person's name and age were unavailable.
