Six drivers were cited for impaired driving Friday night at a sobriety checkpoint on the Anthony Wayne Trail in front of the Toledo Zoo.

During the operation, which ran from 9 p.m. to midnight, Ohio Highway Patrol troopers and Toledo police questioned 628 drivers.

Sixteen of those were checked more closely for impairment, with six arrested on charges of driving while impaired, a highway patrol news release stated.

Perimeter patrols also cited three more drivers for impaired driving. Agents from the Ohio Investigative Unit participated in the effort, checking nearby tavern liquor permits.

During one of those inspections, agents arrested and charged one person with drug trafficking. That person’s name and age were unavailable.
