After pointing a gun at a bartender's face and taking hundreds of dollars, a masked bandit assured the employee, “I'm not a bad person. I just have problems.”

The suspect and two alleged accomplices in the June 28 robbery of Six Pack Bar and Grill, 3223 W. Sylvania Ave., were arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court. All three are charged with aggravated robbery.

The man police believe robbed the store is identified in a police report as Anthony Martin, 19, of 247 Mayberry St.

According to a police report, a man wearing a red bandana to hide his face entered the bar at 3:08 p.m. Friday, pointed a .45-caliber handgun at the bartender, and demanded, “Give me all the money.”

The employee gave $594 to the suspect, who fled out a back door and got into a red Pontiac Grand Am.

Within minutes, police stopped the Grand Am at West Central Avenue and Monroe Street, drawing their weapons and searching the vehicle.

Arrested along with Mr. Martin were David Smith, 22, of 1040 Oakdale Ave. and Russell Kiker, 21, of Edinborough Street in Temperance.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Kiker are also charged with aggravated robbery and were held Monday in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Police said Mr. Smith drove the getaway car and knew about the planned robbery; Mr. Kiker was a passenger in the car.

Mr. Martin was charged with a second armed robbery — of Dollar General, 5860 Lewis Ave., on June 26 — and with petty theft for allegedly stealing electrical and plumbing tools from a Home Depot store on June 17.

His total bond is $151,000.
