A Toledo woman died Tuesday morning after crashing her car, apparently having suffered from a medical condition, authorities said.

Alisa Mays, 43, of East Streicher Street was pronounced dead at 9:41 a.m. at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Police said Ms. Mays was driving eastbound on Constitution Avenue near North Erie Street when her minivan drifted right and crashed into a parked vehicle at 8:55 a.m.

Police initially said they believed Ms. Mays might have had a heart attack. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed today by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. Family and neighbors gathered outside Ms. Mays’ home Tuesday afternoon declined to comment.

In Ms. Mays’ vehicle was her 10-year-old daughter, Brasia Lee, who was not injured.

In September, Brasia was shot in her right leg when someone fired into the family’s North Toledo home. The girl, then 9, was sleeping in her bed when at least five rounds came through a front window.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
