The smell of marijuana wafting from a central Toledo warehouse led police to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of the drug.

Officers responding to a break-in at 1025 Brown Ave. at 9:20 p.m. Friday found a damaged gate, a pried-open overheard door, and an unmistakable odor.

Inside, police found no people but a large marijuana growing operation spanning the three-story building. Officers confiscated the plants, valued at $480,000, and growing lights and other equipment.

The warehouse is owned by BrownAve LLC., according to county land records, while state records list Joseph Wasserstrom as BrownAve’s owner. No charges had been filed.
