A two-foot wide by five foot deep sink hole opened up on Wednesday on an unsuspecting East Toledo woman outside a home at 711 Nevada Street.

Authorities have identified Karen Cox of Nevada Street as the woman who was injured Wednesday afternoon when she fell into a sinkhole outside her home.

Ms. Cox, whose age was not released, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for a foot injury, Toledo police said. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

Police said Ms. Cox was walking out to her car that was parked in the street in the 700 block of Nevada about 6 p.m. when she fell into a sinkhole between the sidewalk and the road, injuring her right foot.

City crews later secured the sinkhole, police said. The hole was about three feet wide and five feet deep, officers said.
