The westbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike reopened about 7 p.m. today, after a one-vehicle crash blocked traffic for almost two hours, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
About 5:20 p.m., the driver of a Ford Escape lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into the guardrail and jackknifed near milepost 56 in Springfield Township, blocking the turnpike for hours and delaying afternoon rush-hour traffic for miles, a dispatcher said.
"It was a pretty simple crash, but the traffic was completely blocked because of how the vehicle landed," he noted.
The dispatcher said that the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by the emergency medical services.
No additional details were available about the identity of the driver.
