Sandusky Co. crash sends 3 to hospital

FREMONT -- Two people were taken to a Toledo hospital by medical helicopters late today after a two-vehicle crash in Sandusky County's Rice Township, troopers at the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported about 8:10 p.m at State Rt. 523 at Weickert Road north of Fremont. Rescue crews had to cut free a person who was entrapped in one of the vehicles.

The helicopters were bound for Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Another person was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital. The names and conditions of the injured people were not released.

Troopers late today continued to investigate.

Fremont is about 35 miles southeast of Toledo.
