FREMONT — Two people — one a Toledoan — were flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo after a car-pickup crash northeast of Fremont, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported about 8:10 p.m Saturday at State Rt. 523 at Sandusky County Road 174. Rescue crews had to extricate a driver who was trapped in the wreckage.

Torrie Ruiz, 21, of Fremont was southbound on County Road 174 when she failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a pickup driven by Amber Rosenberger, 26, of Fremont, troopers said. The truck was traveling east on Route 523. A passenger in the truck, Jeremy Klotz, 30, of Toledo, was injured.

Mr. Klotz and Ms. Ruiz were flown to St. Vincent with serious head injuries, troopers said. Mr. Klotz was in fair condition and Ms. Ruiz was in good condition, a hospital spokesman said Sunday. Ms. Rosenberger was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital. Her condition was not available.
