NEY, Ohio – A Defiance man was released today from a local hospital where he was treated for injuries he received when he and his father were thrown from the motorcycle they were riding on in Defiance County's Washington Township.

Jerald Kroeckel, 24, had been admitted to Bryan Hospital on Tuesday night. His father, Joseph Kroeckel, 55, also of Defiance, remained in critical condition this afternoon at Toledo Hospital.

Both men were thrown from the motorcycle after it struck a large piece of concrete on Bend Road north of Scott Road.

Troopers at the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said it was unknown how the concrete got on the roadway. After the motorcycle hit the object, it slid, ejecting the two men. Neither man wore a helmet.

The crash was reported about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
