Motorcyclist strikes deer, dies in Erie Co. crash

BERLIN HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A man was killed today when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on Mason Road near Edison Woods Reserve northeast of this Erie County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Dale Brundage, 62, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene, which is in Berlin Township, according to the patrol's Sandusky post. He did not wear a helmet, troopers wrote in a report.

Mr. Brundage was westbound on Mason Road just east of Frailey Road about 1:25 a.m. when the collision occurred, the patrol said. A deer was not found at the scene, but deer hair was found on the motorcycle, according to the report.

Berlin Heights is about 70 miles southeast of Toledo.
