Port Clinton area to be scene of sobriety checkpoint

PORT CLINTON -- A sobriety checkpoint will be held on State Rt. 53 in the Port Clinton area from 11 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The checkpoint will be followed by an increased number of law enforcement agents looking for impaired drivers, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The exact location of the checkpoint was not revealed.

Other law enforcement agencies participating include the Ohio Highway Patrol and area police departments.

Port Clinton, the seat of Ottawa County, is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
