Toledo police today are investigating an incident in which a Toledo man was shot Tuesday night in the 900 block of Willow Avenue on the city's east side.

Steven Brown, 23, of Yondota Street, was admitted to Mercy St. Charles Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs and foot, police said. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name but police said the victim's injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Police officers responding to a report of a person shot arrived about 10:45 p.m. and found the victim lying on a sidewalk at Willow and Earl Street, suffering from the wounds, according to police. He was conscious and alert, police said.

The victim told police he was riding his bike on Willow toward Earl when a masked man came from between the houses at 962 Willow and began shooting at him. The victim then dropped his bike and ran toward Earl where he fell on the sidewalk, police said.

The victim told police he did not recognize the shooter.

Police did not say what the motive was.

There was no word of arrests. The incident remained under investigation.
