Man shot in hand in central Toledo shooting


A man was shot in a hand in the central city today, police said.

Police were called to 1537 Freeman Ave., near Auburn Avenue, just after 3:40 p.m.

A man at the scene, who identified himself as the victim's cousin, said the victim was trimming bushes behind 1528 Freeman when two men came through an alley and started shooting.

Police said the suspects fled in a gray Dodge Dakota.

The victim was identified by family as a Michael Johnson. His exact age was not available, but family said the victim is "in his 40s."

He was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
