Arson leads to razing of vacant East Toledo house

A case of arson this morning led to the razing of a vacant East Toledo house, said Battalion Fire Chief Damon Williams.

Firefighters were dispatched to 853 Rogers St. at Navarre Avenue about 7:45 a.m. Chief Williams said neighbors told him it was at least the third time the fire department was called to douse a fire at the Rogers site.

The chief said today's blaze sufficiently weakened the structure that he conferred with city inspection department officials who ordered bulldozers to raze what was left standing.
