Although the remains found in a North Toledo home this week have not yet been identified, Deputy Lucas County Coroner Dr. Cynthia Beisser said Friday that an anthropologist was able to determine that the remains are that of a black male, probably in his early 20s.

Dr. Beisser said more could be known next week once dental records are inspected. If those records don’t help, the next step is to seek a DNA match.

The remains were found at 438 E. Streicher St. on Wednesday by an asbestos-removal crew that had been hired to clean out the property for demolition. Toledo police are treating the case as a homicide, as they do all suspicious deaths.
