Bond set at $1 million for man accused of beating at homeless shelter

Bond was set at $1 million today for a Toledo man accused of beating and stomping another man at the Toledo Rescue Mission on Saturday.

Houston Hart, 49, of 1917 Jefferson Ave., is charged with one count of felonious assault. He appeared today in Toledo Municipal Court and will remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of bond.

Police allege that Mr. Hart assaulted Joseph Meyers, 52, at the mission, at the Jefferson address.

Mr. Hart allegedly attacked Mr. Meyers after the victim refused to give Mr. Hart 75 cents.

Mission officials declined to comment Sunday.
