The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is looking for a Toledo man who, over six years, allegedly raped a young girl, giving her candy and dollar bills to “buy her silence,” officials said.

Wanted for two counts each of rape and gross sexual imposition is Joel Coleman, 31, whose listed address is 823 N. Michigan St. He was indicted Aug. 1 by the Lucas County grand jury.

The suspect's relatives have told the task force Mr. Coleman intends to surrender once he can afford a lawyer, said Rodney Hartzell, a U.S. deputy marshal.

Mr. Coleman, whose nickname is Bo Boy — which is also spelled out on his vehicle’s license plate — is 5 feet, 11 inches, 185 pounds. Marshals will travel anywhere in the United States to arrest him, Deputy Hartzell said.

According to court documents, the rapes began when the girl was 6 years old and continued until she was 12, with the last known attack occurring a year ago.

Anyone with information on Mr. Coleman's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
