Man's body found in North Toledo in July identified, death ruled a homicide

8/19/2013The body of a man who was found last month in a North Toledo garage has been identified and his death was ruled a homicide, authorities said today.
Zak Burton, 24, of 1016 Bronson Ave., was confirmed through DNA testing as the person discovered July 10 in the garage behind a vacant house at 2713 Buckeye St., Toledo police said in a news release.
He was reported missing Jan. 28 by Jasmine McCoy, who is the mother of their 6-year-old daughter and 2-month-old son.

She told police that she last heard from him on May 16, 2012. She said he had a history of going absent for as long as a month at a time, but he had never missed calling their daughter on the telephone at least once during the week.
A man who was former occupant of the house on Buckeye found the body in the garage and reported the incident to police. The body had been wrapped in a blanket, police said.
Police said the autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner's Office showed Mr. Burton had been shot.
Toledo Police said they have no suspects in the murder.
