The Perrysburg Township Trustees voted 3-0 last week for the fire department to fund placing narrowband in the township’s 10 tornado sirens. It will cost $9,700 for the 10 narrowbands to be added, with an extra $125 per siren if antennas need to be repaired.

The narrowbands are needed because during recent monthly tornado siren testings, three of the sirens didn’t go off twice in a row. Fire Chief Tom Brice said he did research and found that with the narrowbands, the sirens go off 99 percent of the time and only 80 percent without them.
