Perrysburg woman who set fire to her own business to collect insurance sentenced

BOWLING GREEN – A Perrysburg woman who set fire to her business to collect the insurance money was sentenced today to 47 months in prison.

Wood County Common Pleas Judge Alan Mayberry also ordered Patricia Groves, 58, to pay restitution of $2,035 to the state Fire Marshal’s Office, which investigated the Dec. 20, 2011 fire at Downey’s Daisy Home Services, 777 Dixie Hwy., in Rossford.

Groves was convicted June 5 of aggravated arson and fraud following a three-day jury trial. She started the fire then filed an insurance claim for $14,787.
