Northwood City council has approved a 2 percent raise for members of the fire department. The increase will bring the hourly pay of a basic emergency medical technician to $12.24 and to $12.73 for and advanced EMT. The new pay rate for paramedics will be $13.08.

Mayor’s Court collected $7,681 in July, Mayor Mark Stoner reported last week. This included $1,234 in fines, $3,977 in forfeitures, and $2,470 in miscellaneous costs.

At its regular meeting last week, council members were told that Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. will charge the city $7,954 for the records it kept of the speed and red-light enforcement cameras at the intersections of Woodville and Lemoyne roads and Wales and Oregon roads. The city needs the records for lawsuits.

The cameras went into service in 2005. The Redflex contract expired in April 23, and council later voted not to renew the agreement. Brian Ballenger, the city attorney, said he would ask Redflex to waive the fee.
