Cleveland man arrested for child endangering, troopers find two 15-year-old girls in minivan
8/29/2013SANDUSKY -- A Cleveland man was arrested today on multiple charges -- including child endangering -- after state troopers responded to a call of a vehicle driving recklessly.
Trooper Matthew Majoy of the Sandusky post of the Ohio Highway Patrol found the vehicle, a minivan, on State Rt. 2 in Sandusky about 5:55 a.m. and saw it stray from its lane several times before stopping it.
Once pulled over, the trooper saw that the steering column was peeled. During a search of the driver, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, the trooper found a screwdriver and pliers in his pants pocket.
In the minivan were two 15-year-old girls, who told troopers that the driver had offered to drive them home at 4 a.m. on the west side of Cleveland, but then got lost. Troopers contacted Cuyahoga County Children Services to arrange for the girls to be returned to their parents.
The driver, Christopher L. Williams, 25, of Cleveland, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence; receiving stolen property; possession of criminal tools; child endangering; operating without a license, failure to drive in marked lanes, and driving without a seat belt.
