A Swanton man was seriously hurt today when his motorcycle collided with a car at a southwest Toledo intersection.

Lawrence J. Hilton, 54, was taken to Toledo Hospital, where police said he was listed in critical condition.

Mr. Hilton was eastbound on Dorr Street about 6 a.m. on a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he entered the intersection at Richards Road and struck the passenger side of the 2013 Mercedes Benz driven by Dr. Nabil A. Ebraheim.

Dr. Ebraheim of Ottawa Hills was enroute to the University of Toledo Medical Center, officers said.

Police said Dr. Ebraheim, 62, stopped for the flashing red traffic light as he drove south on Richards and proceeded into the intersection, where a flashing yellow traffic signal was operating for east-west traffic.

Mr. Hilton, who is employed as an auto mechanic at the University of Toledo, was wearing a helmet. He also was on his way to work, police said.

Police said the accident remains under investigation.

Dr. Ebraheim is an orthopedic specialist at UTMC, the former Medical College of Ohio.
