There were no injuries, according to Clyde police.

Police said a woman called about 3:40 a.m. to report a fire at one of the units at Laurel Greene Apartments in the 200 block of East Commerce Drive. Fire crews arrived a short time later, evacuated "at least six families" and brought the blaze under control by 4:10 a.m., police said.

Seven hours later, firefighters remained at the scene watching for hot spots, according to police.

Police said the American Red Cross assisted at least three families with overnight accommodations.
