Ottawa Co. man dies in city after vehicle strikes carryout

A 29-year-old Ottawa County man was killed when his vehicle went off a North Toledo street and crashed into a building Saturday morning, Toledo police reported.

Terry Cosby, of 2150 State Rt. 590, in Benton Township near Rocky Ridge, Ohio, was pronounced dead at 8:58 a.m. at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, 44 minutes after the crash on North Detroit Avenue was reported, police said.

He was northbound on North Detroit when his vehicle crashed into the Sunset Carryout, 4625 N. Detroit, which is near a sharp curve in the street at a railroad underpass.

The report did not identify the type of vehicle involved, but a fire department dispatcher said she believed it to have been a truck.

The incident’s cause remained under investigation late Saturday.
