BOWLING GREEN — Three Fostoria teens, including two Fostoria Redmen football players, remained in detention Thursday after they were arrested and accused of randomly assaulting two men who were walking home on Sixth Street.
Dominique Fuller and Rolando Silva, both 16, and Miguel Arana, 17, were each charged with delinquency in connection with felonious assault in the Sunday incident, in which Luke Swint, 28, of Bowling Green, and Kyle Wensinger, 29, of Fremont were injured, said Maj. Tony Hetrick, Bowling Green deputy police chief.
The suspects were booked into the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center where they remained Thursday pending an adjudication hearing Sept. 23 at Wood County Juvenile Court, according to court records.
Mr. Swint and Mr. Wensinger were treated at Wood County Hospital for lacerations, bumps, and bruises, the deputy chief said.
Major Hetrick said the victims were walking in the 800 block of Sixth Street to Mr. Swint’s residence about 4:50 a.m. Sunday when three males reportedly jumped out of a sport utility vehicle and assaulted them.
The suspects then jumped back into the SUV and fled but were stopped by Bowling Green University police at the I-75 entrance ramp from East Wooster Street moments later, authorities said.
Judging by the victims’ and witnesses’ accounts, the attack was unprovoked, Major Hetrick said. There is no known motive in the attack and police consider it random, he said.
The Fuller youth, a junior at Fostoria High School, is the Fostoria Redmen starting quarterback and the Silva youth, a sophomore, is a running back and linebacker on the team. The Arana youth is not on the team.
