Rappers vow to make donations of $10,000

TIFFIN — A popular rap artist who started a campaign to give away $1 million has pledged $10,000 to a Tiffin woman whose five children and boyfriend were killed in a mobile home fire Sunday morning.

A second major rapper also pledged the same amount.

On Tuesday, The Game posted to Instagram a photo of Anna Angel with her children and boyfriend with the caption, “Meet [Anna] Angel, a mother of 5 who lost her 5 children & her boyfriend [father of her youngest] in a house fire early Sunday morning in Tiffin, Ohio. I can deal with a lot of things but people losing their children is something that kills me every time. [Anna] Angel was working her shift at Burger King when she was informed by her manager Pat Boes that her home had burnt down with her family inside & no one survived.

“I cannot imagine the feeling she had at that moment & when I 1st read this story yesterday I just happened to be on the phone with Drake ... & told him about it so he offered to help alongside me.”

The photo was also posted by Drake, the second artist to offer $10,000 to Ms. Angel.

Producers of The Game’s reality dating television show also pledged to donate $2,500.

In the Instagram posting, The Game wrote that the money is to help offset the costs from the funerals and for Ms. Angel to purchase a car — her family said she relies on a bicycle for transportation.

Keith Hodkinson, a spokesman for Ms. Angel, said he spoke with The Game and his publicist on Tuesday to discuss details of the donation, expected to total $22,500, but as of Wednesday the funds had not been received.

The donation is part of The Game’s The Robin Hood Project, in which he pledged earlier this month to donate $1 million of his own money to “whoever I want,” according to The Game’s social media accounts.

Representatives of The Game did not return emails seeking comment.

Mr. Hodkinson said an account, the Anna Angel Donation Fund, has been set up at U.S. Bank and, as of Tuesday night, had collected nearly $16,000. An anonymous donor also gave Ms. Angel a 2001 Subaru Forester.

Killed in the fire were Ms. Angel’s boyfriend, Timothy Fresch, 25, their young son Domonic Fresch, 1, and Ms. Angel’s other children: Trinitie Huey, 4; Sunshine Huey, 3; Stormie Huey, 5, and Tiara Angel, 6.

Ms. Angel had been at work at Burger King for about two hours when she found out about the fire at the Highland Trailer Park home where her family lived.

A spokesman for the state fire marshal said Wednesday that officials were “still putting things together,” and no ruling on the cause of the fire had been determined.
