1 dead in 1 car accident at U.S. 23 rest stop

DUNDEE -- One person was killed today when a minivan exited northbound U.S. 23 into a rest area at high speed and struck a camper and tractor-trailer that were parked there, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

The identity of the driver was withheld until family members are notified.

Deputies said the minivan left the highway and drove into the Summerfield Township rest area about 12:25 p.m. The driver, who wore a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the cab of the semi were not injured.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash.
