Driver killed in crash at U.S. 23 rest area

DUNDEE — One person was killed Friday when a minivan exited northbound U.S. 23 into a rest area at high speed and struck a camper and tractor-trailer parked there, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

The identity of the driver was being withheld Friday until family members were notified.

Deputies said the minivan drove into the Summerfield Township rest area about 12:25 p.m.

The driver, who wore a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the semi’s cab were not injured.
