PORT CLINTON — A 14-year-old Port Clinton boy was in critical condition this morning after he was hit by a pickup while riding a bike Sunday afternoon just south of the city in Ottawa County’s Portage Township.

Joe Rojas, who was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, turned in front of a pickup while riding west along Lockwood Road shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

He was thrown from his bike, struck the windshield of the truck, and landed in the roadway, according to the patrol.

The pickup driver, Marilyn Cuevas, 59, of Port Clinton was not injured, nor was her passenger, Stephen Orshoski, 61, of Port Clinton, according to the patrol.

The incident remains under investigation.
