GENOA, Ohio -- Authorities have identified Emily Gagnon of Holliston, Mass. as the bicyclist who was killed in a collision with a sport utility vehicle Monday at a rural intersection on State Rt. 163 in Ottawa County.

Miss Gagnon, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol's Sandusky post. She was wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The victim was riding west on Route 163 near Nissen Road east of Genoa about 7:23 p.m. when her bicycle was struck from behind by an SUV driven by Lynne Smith, 49, of Martin, Ohio, according to the patrol. Ms. Smith was adjusting her sun visor because of the sun glare when the collision occurred, troopers said.

Miss Gagnon was a recent graduate of Westfield State University. She was en route from her home to San Francisco, raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, according to the patrol.

Ms. Smith was not injured. She wore a seat belt, troopers said.

The crash closed Route 163 for about four hours.

There was no word on charges. The crash remained under investigation.

Genoa is about 10 miles southeast of Toledo.
