Injuries do not appear to be life threatening in a shooting today on Norwood Avenue in central Toledo, police said.

A victim was shot twice -- in the right hand and right side of his torso -- in drive-by shooting at about 5:15 p.m. Police said the victim was walking on Norwood, near Lawrence Avenue, when he heard shots.

The victim was taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Although the shooting happened in an area known for gang activity, police said the victim is not a gang member.

The victim told police he did not know how many people were in the car, which he believed was a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Last week police were at Oakwood Avenue and Lawrence on a shots-fired complaint, although no one was shot.

Two people were wounded in a drive-by shooting at Oakwood and Lawrence on Aug. 5.

Anyone with information about the shooting today is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
