During a city-wide gang sweep Thursday, law enforcement officials arrested 41 people and took two guns off the streets.

The Toledo Police Department does several gang sweeps every year and, to conduct the special enforcement effort, joins forces with the Highway Patrol, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the Adult Parole Authority.

During the one-day sweep, officers issued six felony charges, 110 misdemeanor charges, 79 traffic citations, seized two guns, $570 worth of drugs, and $217 cash, according to a police news release.

Five search warrants were also executed.

No particular gang was the focus of the operation, which police said is done to “reduce gang and gun violence by proactive patrol.”
