A Toledo man who is accused of robbing a north end gas station almost three decades ago was arrested Monday night.

Odis Hughes, 61, whose address in 1984 was on West Alexis Road, is charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

The charges filed in Toledo Municipal Court were brought against Mr. Hughes on March 23, 1984, the day of the alleged robbery.

He's not been charged with anything in Toledo since, according to court records.

According to affidavits, Mr. Hughes, who was 31 at the time, allegedly robbed the Sohio Gas Station at 3104 Cherry St. – now a BP – of $3,800 in cash and “inflicted serious physical harm” with a knife on a woman.

The affidavits do not say how the woman was injured or how seriously.

Mr. Hughes was arraigned today and ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
