A fire early Wednesday at a steel plant in Perrysburg caused $23,000 damage to equipment, authorities said.

There were no injuries, according to Perrysburg Deputy Fire Chief Wade Johnson.

Fire at an American Steel Treating Inc.'s plant at 525 W. 6th St. was reported about 6:15 a.m. and extinguished within an hour, Chief Johnson said.

The fire and damage from it were confined to a furnace dust collector that had caught fire due to a "human error," the deputy fire chief said. He did not elaborate.
