BOWLING GREEN -- Police are investigating an apparent robbery today at an apartment in the 500 block of North Enterprise Street.

The robbery was reported about 3 p.m. about two blocks from the Bowling Green State University campus.

BGSU sent out a text message to students, faculty, and staff who have opted to receive such alerts. All students, staff, and faculty were sent an email, and the message was posted to the BGSU Web site and 142 television monitors in public areas around campus, said Dave Kielmeyer, BGSU spokesman.

The alert, based on information BGSU police received from Bowling Green police, said a "robbery at gunpoint" was reported and that three males "ran northeast from the area."

"Given the suspects appeared potentially headed toward campus, [BGSU police] issued a crime alert," Mr. Kielmeyer said.

Bowling Green police in a news release said that officers remained on the scene at 4:30 p.m.; that the investigation is continuing, and that the suspects were not believed to be in the area. The release did not mention a weapon. Police declined to comment further.
