A Toledo man was arrested late Wednesday after an apparent window-breaking spree downtown.

The suspect, Christopher Carter, 22, of 556 Leach St., is charged with vandalism. He was arraigned today in Toledo Municipal Court and ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

In an incident report, police stated that a U.S. Customs Officer saw a man breaking windows and doors.

In all, 17 windows and two doors were broken: two windows and a door at the Gardner Building, 500 Madison Ave.; two windows and a door at Key Bank, 245 N. Superior St.; and 13 windows at 241 N. Superior.

Mr. Carter was arrested by Toledo police after a brief foot chase downtown.

The suspect has a pending vandalism case in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. On Sept. 16, he pleaded no contest to criminal damaging, a misdemeanor, and was found guilty.

Mr. Carter has not yet been sentenced.

In that case, Mr. Carter is accused of breaking out a window at 338 N. Erie St.
