KENTON, Ohio — Authorities identified one of two men killed in a one-vehicle crash in Kenton on Tuesday.

Michael R. Fay, 35, of Lima was driving a stolen 1996 Chevrolet Silverado down a driveway, described by Lt. Matthew Brent Meredith of the Ohio Highway Patrol as a “farmers lane” in Kenton, when the vehicle went past a house and into a pasture. Lieutenant Meredith estimated the vehicle was traveling about 55 or 60 miles per hour when it struck a large rock, ejecting Mr. Fay and killing him and a passenger whose identity has not yet been released.

The crash took place about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, about an hour after the vehicle was stolen from the south side of Kenton, he said. The vehicle caught fire after the crash, which was reported by passersby. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway patrol and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident. Those with information should call the highway patrol at 419-423-1414.
