Maumee motorcyclist killed in crash

HASKINS — A Maumee man was killed Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle on State Rt. 65 in Wood County’s Middleton Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Ray D. Wampler, 57, was flown to Toledo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers said Mr. Wampler laid down a 2009 Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide while driving west on Route 65, just east of State Rt. 582, about 3:45 p.m. He was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
