MONROE — Michigan State Police on Friday continued to investigate the discovery of a woman’s body in Monroe County’s Frenchtown Township.

The unidentified body was found about 3:45 p.m. Thursday in a wooded field off South Stony Creek Road near LaPrad Road, according to the state police post in Monroe. The location is less than a mile away from the Nadeau Road interchange on I-75.

Because of an advanced stage of decomposition, the manner of death is unclear, the state police said.

The investigation is focusing on the chance the body is one of several missing people from the area. The state police did not identify those people.

Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 734-242-3500.
