SANDUSKY -- An 85-year-old Sandusky man was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on Bogart Road in Erie County's Perkins Township on Tuesday, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Edward Bikulcius, the victim, was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the patrol's Sandusky post.

Mr. Bikulcius was walking south across Bogart, in the eastbound lane, west of Columbus Avenue about 7:20 p.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Steven Dickman, 61, of Monroeville, Ohio, who was driving east on Bogart, troopers said.

Mr. Dickman and his wife, Louise Dickman, who was his passenger, were not injured, the patrol said. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
