Temperance teen critically injured in crash

TEMPERANCE -- A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured when the car he was driving struck a garbage truck on Samaria Road in Bedford Township today. 

Colton Durbin, of Temperance, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo, where he was listed in critical condition.

STORY UPDATE

The car was eastbound on Samaria east of Secor Road about 9:20 a.m. when it struck the garbage truck in the rear, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The truck was stopped facing east in the eastbound travel lane to pick up garbage, sheriff's deputies said.

The operator of the truck, Brian Miller, 38, of Temperance, was not injured in the crash.

Both drivers wore seat belts, according to the sheriff's office.

The incident remained under investigation.
